Description

This low-density rigid polyurethane expanding foam is suitable for applications that prioritize light weight, high expansion, and quick turnaround over structural strength. With a density of about 48 kg/m³ (3 lb/ft³), it creates a lightweight, rigid, closed-cell foam, ideal for efficiently filling large volumes.

While not suitable for load-bearing applications, the foam can be cut, carved, sanded, or shaped with hand tools. It can also be coated with epoxy, polyester resin, urethane coatings, or fiberglass for added strength.

Due to its low density, high expansion, and rapid cure, it is widely used for scenic and theatrical set pieces, flotation, void filling, mock-ups, architectural details, and special effects where speed, volume, and weight savings are crucial.

Instructions

  • Mix at a 1A:1B ratio by volume until uniform. 
  • Pour immediately, as the working time is approximately 30–45 seconds. 
  • The foam expands to about 18 times its original volume, so allow ample space in the mold. 
  • Do not disturb during the rise.
  • Demold after approximately 10–15 minutes. 
  • Full cure is achieved in about 1 hour. 
  • Use clean, dry molds and a release agent if needed. 
  • Once cured, the foam can be cut or shaped. 
  • Wear gloves, avoid moisture, and ensure good ventilation during use.
