Description

This thixotropic epoxy gel coat is used for hand laminating and tooling applications. It cures at room temperature, providing strong abrasion resistance. The series includes variants for different applications, such as adding color pigments or high-temperature use.

Instructions

Use in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gear. Avoid using glass or foam containers due to high exotherm. Store and use at room temperature (23°C/73°F).

Preparation

  • Use a NIOSH approved respirator and safety glasses.
  • Mix components thoroughly for full cure properties.
  • Test a small application for suitability.

Applying A Release Agent

Use Ease Release™ 200 or 205 for nonporous surfaces to prevent adhesion.

Measuring / Dispensing

Accurate measurements by volume or weight are crucial. Use clean containers.

Adding Color

Mix UVO™ color tints with Part A before adding Part B.

Mixing

Mix Parts A and B for at least 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom. Use a shallow pan to extend pot life.

Adding Fillers

Pre-mix dry fillers with Part A before adding Part B.

Important

Mixed material generates heat. Avoid thick applications and use appropriate containers.

Applying

Apply two thin layers with a chip brush. Allow each layer to partially cure before applying the next.

Cure Time

Refer to specified cure times. Cured material can be sanded. Use a mask when sanding.

Heat Curing

Room temperature cure is sufficient, but mild heat can reduce cure time.

Painting

Cured material can be painted with acrylic enamel paints.

Removing Epoxy

Scrape uncured epoxy and clean residue with appropriate solvents.
