Description

This high-performance platinum-cure liquid silicone compound is used for creating skin effects, movie special effects, and production molds.

Dragon Skin™ 10 FAST is also suitable for medical prosthetics and cushioning applications.

The material is flame-rated to UL-94 HB and meets the B1 classification in the GB 8624-2012 Fire Test for Building Materials and Products.

Features

  • Versatile Material: Soft, strong, and stretchy, it can achieve infinite color effects with Silc Pig™ pigments or Cast Magic™ powders. Cured rubber can be painted with the Psycho Paint™ system and is skin safe.
  • Easy to Use: Mixes 1A:1B by weight or volume. Can be thinned with Silicone Thinner™ or thickened with THI-VEX™. Cures at room temperature with negligible shrinkage. Vacuum degassing is recommended.
  • Flame Rated: Meets UL-94 HB specification and B1 classification for fire tests.

Instructions

Safety

Use in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only, as latex gloves inhibit curing.

Storage and Use

Store and use at room temperature (23°C). Warmer temperatures reduce working and cure time and shelf life.

Cure Inhibition

Contaminants like latex, sulfur clays, and certain woods may inhibit curing. Test compatibility on a small area. Use a clear acrylic lacquer as a sealer if needed.

Because no two applications are quite the same, a small test application to determine suitability for your project is recommended if performance of this material is in question.

Note: Even with a sealer, platinum silicones will not work with modeling clays containing heavy amounts of sulfur. Do a small scale test for compatibility before using on your project.

Applying A Release Agent

Use a release agent like Ease Release™ 200 for easier demolding. Brush lightly and mist over surfaces, allowing 30 minutes to dry.

Measuring and Mixing

Pre-mix Part B. Mix Parts A and B (1A:1B) thoroughly for 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom. Vacuum degassing is recommended.

Curing / Post Curing

Cure at room temperature. Optional post-curing at 80°C for 2 hours and 100°C for 1 hour improves properties. Cool before use.

If Using As A Mold

Natural release characteristics may diminish over time. Use a release agent for casting resins to prevent mold degradation.

Thickening and Thinning

Use THI-VEX™ to thicken for vertical applications. Silicone Thinner™ reduces viscosity but may affect tear and tensile strength.

Mold Performance & Storage

Clean molds with soap and dry before storage. Store assembled molds on a level surface in a cool, dry place.
