Description

Castilene is a sulfur-free modeling compound that models like clay and works like wax. It is lightweight and compatible with silicones and other rubbers. Available in soft, medium, and hard consistencies. The medium grade is great for detailing, and the hard grade is best for sharp detail.

This material is easily softened by sunlight, a microwave, light bulbs, or body heat. It models like clay and works like wax, offering versatility in sculpting. It can be melted and poured, allowing for easy manipulation. Being sulfur-free, it is favored by toy and prototype designers. It is 40% lighter than Plastiline and self-supporting without armature.

Features

  • Models like clay and works like wax
  • 40% lighter than Plastiline
  • Can be melted down and poured
  • Sulfur free
  • Compatible across all grades

Use the hard grade for armature and building up pieces, adding soft and medium grades for detailing and modeling. Note that the soft grade is susceptible to dings and bruising.

Instructions

  • Use at room temperature for optimal handling.
  • If the material is too firm, gently warm it using sunlight, a microwave in short intervals, or body heat until pliable.
  • Begin sculpting by building a base with the hard grade for structure, then layer medium and soft grades for shaping and fine details. Blend grades seamlessly as needed.
  • For pouring applications, melt slowly using controlled heat and avoid overheating.
  • Allow the material to cool before refining.
  • Keep tools clean to maintain a smooth surface.
  • Avoid applying pressure on the soft grade to prevent dents.
