Epoxy Thinner

Description

This clear, water-like liquid is designed to lower the viscosity of casting and laminating epoxies. It can be added in varying proportions to improve flow, making mixing and pouring easier. It also helps reduce bubble entrapment. Unlike common solvents, it is non-hazardous, contains no VOCs or phthalates, and is a 100% reactive fluid that does not evaporate or cause shrinkage. It allows for higher filler loading and better wetting and impregnation.

Instructions

Preparation

Store and use all materials at 23°C (73°F). Avoid breathing fumes; use in a well-ventilated area. A NIOSH approved respirator is recommended. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves to minimize skin contact.

Usage

Add by weight using a gram scale. Follow directions on the technical bulletin for the specific epoxy product before adding. Important: Physical and performance properties, including Shore hardness, may be lower in proportion to the amount added. Do not exceed 10% of epoxy Part A, as the system may not cure. A small scale test is recommended if the outcome is uncertain.

Measuring and Mixing

Add to Part A of the epoxy system and pre-mix thoroughly before adding Part B. Mix all parts thoroughly and apply.

Usage Example: 100g EpoxAmite 100 (Part A) + 5g Thinner (Mix Thoroughly) + 24g EpoxAmite 101 Hardener (Part B) = Viscosity: 900 cps Shore Hardness: 84D
