Description

This polyurethane compound can be sprayed using the EZ-Spray™ Junior System, curing quickly to form a strong, lightweight, and impact-resistant rigid foam. It is suitable for making lightweight castings and can be used as a mother mold material over certain rubber mold configurations.

Cured castings are rigid and durable, resisting moisture, moderate heat, solvents, and dilute acids. They can be machined, primed/painted, or bonded to other surfaces after removal of any release agent residue. Castings can be displayed outdoors after priming and painting. Unpainted castings will yellow over time, especially when exposed to ultraviolet light.

Instructions

Safety

Store and use at room temperature (23°C/73°F). These products have a limited shelf life and should be used as soon as possible. Keep environmental humidity low and ensure good ventilation. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Spraying should be done in a well-ventilated area.

Breathing protection: Everyone in the spray area should wear an independent air-supplied hood or NIOSH-approved breathing mask.

Do not attempt to spray rubber or plastic without first reading the EZ-Spray™ Junior Manual!

Applying A Release Agent

This foam is adhesive and will stick to almost any surface. A release agent is necessary to facilitate demolding. Use Ease Release™ 2831 for releasing urethane foams from most surfaces.

IMPORTANT: Apply release agent to all surfaces that will contact the rubber. Lightly brush the release agent with a soft brush over all surfaces of the model, follow with a light mist coating, and let it dry for 15 minutes.

A small test application is recommended to determine suitability for your project.

Spraying

After loading and preparing the material cartridge, depress the trigger and begin spraying. For best results, spray in a waste bucket first to establish an appropriate product and air volume level. Apply a thin first coat, moving quickly. Wait two minutes between the first and second coats. Heat from the first coat will speed the cure of the others. Spray bottom edges with many thin coats to avoid drips and voids, working from bottom to top. Increase volume pressure for heavier coats.

Curing

The foam will harden immediately and can be handled or demolded in about 5 minutes, depending on mass and configuration.

Performance

Cured castings are rigid and durable, resisting moisture, moderate heat, solvents, and dilute acids. They can be machined, primed/painted, or bonded to other surfaces, provided any release agent is removed. If machining, wear a dust mask to prevent inhalation of residual particles. Castings can be displayed outdoors after priming and painting. Unpainted castings will yellow over time, especially when exposed to ultraviolet light. A small test application is recommended to determine suitability if performance is in question.
