Fibreglass Matt 30 g/m² is an ultra-lightweight reinforcement material ideal for projects requiring fine detail, flexibility, and minimal build-up. Composed of randomly oriented glass fibers bonded with a light binder, this thin mat easily conforms to curves, tight contours, and complex surfaces. It is perfect for precision laminating in prop making, special effects fabrication, model building, and small composite repairs.

Its low density allows resin to penetrate quickly and evenly, resulting in a smooth, uniform laminate without unnecessary thickness or weight. This makes the 30 g/m² grade ideal as the first contact layer in molds, where capturing surface detail is crucial, or for creating lightweight shells and components where strength is needed without bulk.

Fibreglass Matt 30 g/m² is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins. It is often layered with heavier mats or woven cloths to progressively build strength. It is also effective for reinforcing thin-walled structures, patching delicate areas, and producing high-detail parts in hobby, industrial, and artistic applications.

A staple in FX workshops and composite studios, this fine mat offers clean workability, excellent drape, and reliable performance for detailed laminating tasks.

Instructions

Cut the fiberglass mat to the required size before mixing the resin.
Apply a thin layer of resin to the surface.
Place the mat onto the wet resin. Use a brush or roller to gently saturate the fibers with additional resin until fully wet and transparent.
Press lightly to remove air bubbles and ensure proper adhesion.
Additional layers can be applied once the first layer is saturated.
Allow the laminate to cure completely before trimming or finishing.

Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins for detailed composite work.
