Description

This fabric is a robust reinforcement material ideal for structural laminates, tooling, composite builds, and heavy-duty prop or FX fabrication. It consists of two layers of fiberglass stitched at ±45°, providing exceptional multidirectional strength, enhanced load distribution, and superior resistance to twisting, flexing, and shear forces. This stitching method eliminates crimping found in woven fabrics, allowing fibers to remain straight for optimal mechanical performance.

The ±45° orientation is perfect for components needing torsional stability, such as shells, mother molds, panels, composite beams, armor pieces, and structural reinforcements in marine or industrial projects. It easily wets out with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins, forming a strong, consistent laminate with minimal resin usage compared to chopped strand mat.

This fabric drapes well over curves and large surfaces, offering excellent conformability without sacrificing strength. It can be combined with core materials, mats, or unidirectional fabrics to create customized layups tailored to specific stiffness, flexibility, and durability requirements.

Widely used in composite workshops, SFX studios, and fabrication environments, it provides a balanced combination of lightweight construction and superior structural performance.

Instructions

Cut the fabric to the required shape before mixing resin. Position the fabric onto a clean mold or prepared surface, ensuring proper alignment of the ±45° fiber orientation for optimal structural performance. Apply polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy resin evenly using a brush, roller, or infusion method until the fabric is fully saturated. Use a laminating roller to remove trapped air and ensure complete wet-out. Add additional layers or core materials as needed for strength and stiffness. Allow the laminate to cure fully before trimming or finishing. Wear gloves, eye protection, and a respirator when handling fiberglass.
