Description

This high-strength polyurethane expanding foam is designed for projects requiring mechanical performance with a density of 160 kg/m³ (10 lb/ft³) and extended working time. It cures to a strong, closed-cell structure, offering excellent compressive strength, dimensional stability, and low water absorption while remaining lightweight and easy to machine.

Features

  • Uses a 1A:1B mix ratio by volume for simplified measurement.
  • Slower reaction profile provides a pot life of approximately 5–6 minutes.
  • Expands to about 6 times its original liquid volume, ensuring controlled, low-pressure expansion.
  • Demold time is about 60 minutes, with full cure in approximately 3–4 hours.
  • Cured foam is cream to off-white and can be cut, drilled, tapped, sanded, carved, or machined with standard tools.
  • Accepts paints, coatings, fiberglass, epoxy laminates, and urethane or silicone skins.

Due to its high density, rigidity, and extended working time, it is widely used for structural cores, tooling and fixtures, prototype parts, scenic and architectural elements, marine flotation components, and reinforcement of hollow structures.

Instructions

Mix at a 1A:1B ratio by volume until uniform. Pour within approximately 5–6 minutes of working time. The foam expands to about six times its volume, so allow space in the mold. Do not disturb during the rise.

Steps

  • Demold after approximately 60 minutes.
  • Full cure in approximately 3–4 hours.
  • Use clean, dry molds and a release agent if needed.
  • Foam can be cut, drilled, or sanded after curing.
  • Wear gloves, avoid moisture, and ensure good ventilation.
