Description

This lightweight epoxy putty is designed for high temperature resistance, enduring up to 149°C when cured at room temperature and 204°C with heat post-curing. It features a low-odor, low-shrinkage formula and is mixed by hand with a 2A:1B ratio by volume or weight.

It provides a long working time and cures overnight at room temperature into a hard, rigid epoxy with properties similar to modeling board. Once cured, it can be sanded, shaped, drilled, tapped, and CNC machined or routered.

Applications

  • Epoxy Laminating: Use between layers of EpoxAmite™ HT Laminating Epoxy and fiberglass, carbon, or other fibers to create lightweight composite parts, reducing the need for multiple liquid epoxy layers.
  • Epoxy Tooling: Suitable for filleting, jig, and fixture construction. It serves as a lightweight adhesive, bonding to itself and surfaces like wood, stone, and EpoxAcoat™ HT surface coat epoxy.

Pot Life and Curing Times

  • Thickness 3.81 cm: Pot life is 90 minutes, handling time is 3 hours, full cure in 16 hours.
  • Thickness 0.95 cm: Pot life is 2.5 hours, handling time is 5.5 hours, full cure in 16 hours.
  • Thickness 0.32 cm: Pot life is 3 hours, handling time is 6.5 hours, full cure in 16 hours.

Working Tip: The material is mass-sensitive. Mixing larger quantities reduces working time. To extend pot life, flatten the putty with a rolling pin to reduce mass concentration.

Instructions

Mix at a 2A:1B ratio by volume or weight until uniform. Apply to clean, dry surfaces or press into molds. Working time varies by thickness (~90 min–3 hrs); larger masses cure faster. Shape as needed and press firmly for adhesion. Do not disturb during cure. Handling time is approximately 3–6.5 hours; full cure is around 16 hours. For longer working time, spread material thin. Once cured, it can be sanded, drilled, or machined. Wear gloves and ensure ventilation.
