This silicone rubber is a Shore 14A tin-catalyzed material known for its low viscosity, fast cure, and long library life.
Mold Max™ 14NV does not require vacuum degassing and has a mix ratio of 100A:10B by weight.
The working time is 40 minutes, and the cure time is 4 hours at room temperature.
Mold Max™ 14NV reproduces fine details and is suitable for industrial and art applications, including molds for prototypes, furniture, sculpture, and architectural elements.
It can also be used for movie special effects.
Cure time can be reduced with a cure accelerator.
Mold Max™ 14NV can cast materials such as wax, gypsum, low melt alloys/metals, and urethane, epoxy, or polyester resins.
N.B. Do not cast concrete into rubber molds made with this product as it will not cure properly.
Important: Weigh Part A & B components using a gram scale for success.
Conduct a small test application to determine suitability for your project.
The rubber may be inhibited by sulfur-base clays, resulting in tackiness or lack of cure. Test the compatibility by applying a small amount of rubber onto a non-critical area. If this does not cure well, apply a “barrier coat” of clear acrylic lacquer and allow to dry. A release agent can ease demolding. Ease Release™ 200 is recommended for silicone rubber molds.
Store materials at 23°C (73°F). Use safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Pre-mix Part A thoroughly. Dispense parts A and B into a mixing container using a gram scale and mix for 3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom.
Pour the mixture at the lowest point of the containment field. The liquid should level off at least 1.3 cm (1/2”) over the highest point of the model. Allow the mold to cure for 4 hours at 23°C before demolding. Post cure for 4 hours at 65°C to eliminate residual moisture and alcohol. Allow mold to cool to room temperature before use. Do not cure below 18°C.
Accel-T™ accelerator reduces cure time. Note: working time is reduced with more Accel-T™. Refer to the technical bulletin for mix ratios and cure times. Using this accelerator shortens the mold's library life.
% Accel-T™ Pot Life Cure Time
0.2 25 minutes 2 hours
1 4.5 minutes 15 minutes
Silicone Thinner™ lowers mixed viscosity and shore hardness, increasing pot life. Do not exceed 10% by weight of total system (A+B). Refer to the technical bulletin for details. Not recommended for brush-on rubber molds; use Mold Max™ Stroke™ for that purpose.
