Tin-cure mold-making silicone with excellent detail reproduction and long library life.

This tin-cured silicone rubber compound is known for its exceptional working properties and long library life. It features a unique catalyst and can be pigmented with silicone colorants. The pot life for the pourable silicones is 45 minutes, and they cure overnight at room temperature. Vacuum degassing is recommended to remove entrapped air.
Weigh Part A & B components using a gram scale. Pre-mix Part B thoroughly to re-disperse pigments. Dispense required amounts of parts A and B into a mixing container and mix for 3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the container several times. Vacuum degassing is recommended to eliminate entrapped air. Your vacuum pump must pull a minimum of 29 inches of mercury (or 1 Bar / 100 KPa). Leave enough room in the container for material expansion. Vacuum material until it rises, breaks, and falls. Vacuum for 1 minute after material falls.
Pour the mixture in a single spot at the lowest point of the containment field. Allow the mold to cure overnight (at least 16 hrs) at room temperature (23°C/73°F) before demolding. Post curing the mold for an additional 4 hours at 65°C (150°F) will eliminate residual moisture and alcohol. Allow mold to cool to room temperature before using. Do not cure rubber where temperature is less than 18°C (65°F).
THIVEX™ is used for thickening for vertical surface application. Apply a thin coat of rubber and wait for it to become “tacky” before applying the next coat. Final mold thickness should be at least 1 cm (3/8”). Allow rubber to cure overnight before applying a support shell. Silicone Thinner™ can lower the mixed viscosity but should not exceed 10% by weight of the total system (A+B).
Accel-T™ silicone rubber accelerator will accelerate the cure time. Note: working time is reduced in proportion to the amount of Accel-T™ added, resulting in a shorter library life of the mold.
Use in a properly ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only, as latex gloves will inhibit the cure. Store and use material at room temperature (23°C/73°F). Storing material at warmer temperatures will reduce the shelf life.
The physical life of the mold depends on usage. Casting abrasive materials can erode mold detail. Clean molds with a soap solution and dry fully before storage. Store molds on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.
