Description

This tin-cured silicone rubber compound is known for its exceptional working properties and long library life. It features an exclusive catalyst that extends shelf life and can be pigmented with silicone colorants. The pot life is 60 minutes, curing overnight at room temperature. Vacuum degassing is recommended to remove entrapped air.

Instructions

Safety

Use in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only, as latex gloves will inhibit the cure.

Storage

Store and use at room temperature (23°C/73°F). Warmer temperatures reduce shelf life. Use promptly.

Sealer / Release Agent

May be inhibited by sulfur-based clays. Test compatibility with a small-scale test. Apply a barrier coat of clear acrylic lacquer if needed. Use a proven release agent.

Measuring & Mixing

Pre-mix Part B thoroughly. Weigh Part A & B using a gram scale. Mix for 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom. Vacuum degas to remove air.

Pouring / Curing / Post Curing

Pour mixture in a single spot at the lowest point. Allow to cure overnight (at least 16 hours) at room temperature. Post cure for 4 hours at 65°C (150°F) to eliminate residual moisture and alcohol. Allow mold to cool before use.

Thickening for Brush-on Application

Use a thickener for vertical applications. Apply thin coats, allowing each to become tacky before the next. Final thickness should be at least 9.5 mm (3/8 inch).

Accelerating Cure

Use an accelerator to reduce cure time. Note that working time is reduced with more accelerator.

Thinning

Silicone Thinner™ can lower viscosity and increase pot life, but reduces tear and tensile strength. Do not exceed 10% by weight.

Mold Performance & Storage

Clean molds with soap solution and dry before storage. Store on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.
