Brushable, tin-cure, mold-making silicone for detailed molds.Shore 30A hardnessMix ratio 100A:10B by weightPot life 30-45 minCure time 16 hrsApplicable temperature range: -54°C to 204°C (cured product)
This brushable, tin-cure silicone rubber self-thickens and is suitable for creating fast brush-on molds of almost any model. It holds vertical surfaces and reproduces fine details. Mixed at a ratio of 100A:10B by weight, it quickly develops thixotropy and can be applied with a brush or spatula. The working time is 30-45 minutes, with a re-coat time of 60-90 minutes, depending on humidity. The cure time after the final layer is 16 hours at room temperature.
The silicone will not stick to most surfaces and cures with negligible shrinkage to a strong, flexible Shore 30A rubber. Four thin layers are sufficient to make a strong and durable production mold for casting wax, gypsum, concrete, or resins. Applications include reproducing sculpture, architectural restoration, and candle molds.
Weigh Part A & B components using a gram scale. A small test application is recommended to determine suitability. Mix thoroughly for 3 minutes, ensuring to scrape the sides and bottom of the container.
Use in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use vinyl gloves only, as latex gloves will inhibit curing.
Store and use at room temperature (23°C/73°F). Warmer storage reduces shelf life. Use as soon as possible.
Inhibition may occur with sulfur-based clays. Test compatibility by applying a small amount of rubber to a non-critical area. Use a barrier coat of clear acrylic lacquer if needed. Ease Release™ 200 is recommended for easier demolding.
Apply in layers, with four thin layers (minimum 9.5 mm) being suitable for a strong mold. Use a stiff brush for the first coat to capture detail. Allow the first coat to become tacky before applying the next. Adding Silc-Pig™ silicone pigment can help distinguish layers.
Add Thi-Vex™ thickener for greater thixotropy. Add Silicone Thinner™ to lower viscosity, not exceeding 10% by weight.
A rigid support shell is necessary once the mold is cured. Plasti-Paste™ is ideal for this purpose.
Allow curing for at least 16 hours at room temperature. Post-curing at 65°C (150°F) for 4 hours can eliminate residual moisture and alcohol.
Suitable for casting low-temperature melt metal alloys, gypsum, wax, concrete, and various plastics. Avoid platinum cure silicone rubbers.
Applying a release agent before casting can facilitate demolding and extend mold life. Ease Release™ 200 or 205 is recommended for resins, and In & Out™ II for concrete.
Fully cured molds are durable. The mold's life depends on usage. Clean with soap solution and dry before storage. Store on a level surface in a cool, dry environment.
