Description

This casting resin is part of a series known for ultra-low viscosity and bright white, bubble-free castings.

Smooth-Cast™ 310 does not require vacuum degassing. The resin can be mixed using a 1A:1B ratio by volume or 100A:90B by weight. Differences in the series include pot life and demold time.

Smooth-Cast™ 310 accepts fillers such as URE-FIL™ 3 and can be colored with SO-Strong™ or Ignite™ tints. Fully cured castings are tough, durable, machinable, and paintable, with resistance to moisture and mild solvents.

Applications include reproducing small to medium sculptures, making prototype models, special effect props, and decorative jewelry.

  • Shore hardness: 70D
  • Working time: 20 minutes
  • Demold time: 4 hours
  • Mix ratio: 1:1 by weight
  • Low viscosity for easy mixing
  • Elongation at Break: 7.5%

Instructions

Safety

  • Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C).
  • Use products promptly due to limited shelf life.
  • Liquid urethanes are moisture sensitive; use clean metal, glass, or plastic tools and containers.
  • Mix in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves.
Applying A Release Agent
  • Use a mold-specific release agent (e.g., Universal™ Mold Release).
  • Apply a liberal coat on all surfaces contacting the plastic.
  • Brush with a soft brush, apply a light mist, and let dry for 30 minutes.
  • Release agents prolong mold life; silicone molds may not need them unless casting silicone.
Measuring & Mixing
  • Store and use materials at 23°C.
  • Stir or shake Parts A & B before dispensing. Mix equal parts by volume or 100A:90B by weight.
  • Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing container thoroughly.
Pouring
  • Pour mixture at the lowest point to minimize air entrapment.
  • For best results, use pressure casting at 60 PSI (4.2 kg/cm²) during cure time.
Curing
  • Ensure adequate ventilation; avoid inhaling fumes.
  • Let castings cool to room temperature before handling.
  • Demold time varies by mass and mold configuration; cures in 2-4 hours.
Post Cure
  • For full cure, allow room temperature cure followed by 4-6 hours at 65°C.
Performance
  • Cured castings are rigid, moisture-resistant, and machinable.
  • Remove any release agent before painting or bonding.
  • Unpainted castings may yellow over time, especially in UV light.
  • Conduct a small test application to ensure material suitability.
