This premium urethane resin offers high impact strength, even in thin sections.
TASK™ 15 has a Working time of 6 minutes and a handling time of 60 minutes at room temperature.
The resin cures with negligible shrinkage, allowing vibrant colors when tints or pigments are added.
It can be machined, sanded, and painted, featuring a gradual cure profile ideal for rotational casting applications, such as making hollow parts.
Applications include creating tough prototype parts, limited-run production castings, and rotationally cast parts like mannequins.
Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C). These products have a limited shelf life and should be used promptly. All liquid urethanes are moisture sensitive. Use clean mixing tools and metal, glass, or plastic containers. Mix in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves to minimize the risk of contamination.
A small test application is recommended to determine suitability if performance is in question.
If unsure about surface compatibility, perform a trial casting on a similar surface finish to avoid damage.
Polyurethane, latex, or metal molds should be dry and require a suitable release agent.
Apply a liberal coat of release agent onto all surfaces that will contact the plastic. Lightly brush the release agent onto all surfaces with a soft brush, then apply a light mist coating and let it dry for 30 minutes.
The proper mixing ratio is 75A:100B by weight. Dispense the required amount of Part A into a mixing container, then add the appropriate amount of Part B.
Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C). Shake or stir Part A & Part B before using. Add Part A to Part B and mix thoroughly. Stir slowly and deliberately, scraping the sides and bottom of the mixing container several times. Avoid splashing low viscosity material out of the container. Do not delay between mixing and pouring.
IMPORTANT: Shelf life is reduced after opening. Use the remaining product as soon as possible. Replace lids immediately after dispensing to prolong shelf life.
XTEND-IT™ Dry Gas Blanket can significantly prolong the shelf life of unused liquid product.
This resin is low in viscosity and does not require vacuum degassing. If vacuuming, subject the mixture to 29 h.i.g. mercury in a vacuum chamber until the mixture rises, breaks, and falls. Allow for 3 to 4 times volume expansion in the mixing container. Be aware of the pot life so that the material does not set up in the mixing container.
Warning: Fumes may be visible as the product starts to gel and cure. Ensure adequate ventilation and do not inhale fumes. Castings will be extremely hot immediately following cure and may burn the skin. Let cool to room temperature before handling. For best results, pour the mixture in a single spot at the lowest point of the mold and let it seek its level to minimize air entrapment. Casting thickness should not exceed 1.27 cm (½ inch).
Important: Use with proper workshop ventilation or near a forced-ventilation outlet. Do not inhale fumes. Fumes will dissipate with adequate ventilation. Castings with significant mass may be hot to the touch and may irritate the skin immediately after cure. Let the casting cool to room temperature before handling. Demold time depends on mass and mold configuration. Low mass or thin-walled castings take longer to cure than those with higher mass concentration. For rotational or hollow castings, backfilling with a rigid foam provides lightweight reinforcement. Foam backfilling is recommended if castings will be subjected to temperatures above 30°C.
Cured castings are rigid and durable, resisting moisture, moderate heat, solvents, and dilute acids. They can be machined, primed/painted, or bonded to other surfaces (any release agent must be removed). When machining, wear a dust mask to prevent inhalation of residual particles. Castings can be displayed outdoors after priming and painting.
