Description

This low-viscosity aluminum-filled urethane casting resin is designed for short-run vacuum forming or thermoforming molds. 

TASK™ 18 cures overnight at room temperature with negligible shrinkage to a hard plastic with high compressive and flexural strength. 

The cured material can be polished, machined, drilled, and painted. 

TASK™ 18 is suitable for industrial production parts, prototype parts, and tracing patterns.

Instructions

Storage and Handling

Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C). Use as soon as possible due to limited shelf life. All liquid urethanes are moisture sensitive. Use clean metal, glass, or plastic mixing tools and containers. Mix in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves.

Release Agent Application

A release agent is necessary for demolding. Use a mold-specific release agent. Apply a liberal coat and brush with a soft brush. Follow with a light mist coating and let dry for 30 minutes. Silicone rubber molds usually do not require a release agent unless casting silicone into the mold.

Measuring and Mixing

Mixing ratio is 26 Parts A to 100 Parts B by weight. Use an accurate scale. Dispense Part A into a mixing container, weigh Part B, and combine. Stir slowly and scrape the sides and bottom of the container. If tinting, add pigment to Part B before mixing with Part A.

Pouring

Pour mixture in a single spot at the lowest point of the mold. Avoid pouring directly over objects. Use a pressure casting technique for best results. Subject the casting assembly to 4.2 kg/cm² air pressure for 16 hours.

Curing

Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not inhale fumes. Allow casting to cool to room temperature before handling. Demold time depends on mass and mold configuration. Backfilling with rigid foam is recommended for temperatures above 30°C (85°F).

Post Curing

Post curing accelerates full cure and improves properties. Cure for 16 hours at room temperature, then 2 hours at 60°C, followed by 2 hours at 100°C. Allow to cool before handling.
