Description

This polyurethane casting resin is designed for strength in ultra-thin sections from 0.75 mm to 1.27 cm (0.03” to 0.50”). TASK™ 4 features low mixed viscosity for capturing fine details and exhibits minimal shrinkage, making it ideal for prototypes and design models. 

The working time is 20 minutes, and it cures in 16 hours at 23°C.

Color customization is possible with SO-Strong™ tints. Fully cured models are tough, durable, machinable, and paintable, resisting moisture and mild solvents. 

Applications include prototype models, toys, miniatures, mechanical parts, and props.

Instructions

Storage and Handling

Store and use materials in a warm environment at 23°C. The product is moisture-sensitive and should be used promptly. Use clean metal, glass, or plastic tools and containers for mixing. Ensure good ventilation and wear safety gear, including glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves.

Release Agent Application

Apply a release agent to all surfaces in contact with the plastic. Use a mold-specific release agent like Universal™ Mold Release.

Brush the release agent over surfaces, apply a light mist, and let it dry for 30 minutes.

Measuring and Mixing

Mix in a 100A:100B weight ratio using an accurate scale. Stir Part A and Part B before combining. Mix thoroughly, scraping the container's sides and bottom. Add tints or pigments to Part B before mixing with Part A.

Replace lids immediately after use to prolong shelf life. 

Use XTEND-IT™ Dry Gas Blanket to extend the shelf life of unused products.

Pouring

Pour the mixture at the mold's lowest point. Avoid pouring directly over objects if encapsulating. Use pressure casting at 4.2 kg/cm² for best results.

Curing

Ensure adequate ventilation during use. Allow castings to cool to room temperature before handling. Demold time varies with mass and configuration. For rotational or hollow castings, backfill with rigid foam for reinforcement.

Post Curing

Post curing accelerates full cure and enhances properties. Cure at room temperature, then heat at 65°C for 4 hours. Allow to cool before handling.

Performance

Cured castings are rigid, durable, and resistant to moisture, heat, and solvents. They can be machined, painted, or bonded after removing any release agent. Suitable for outdoor display after priming and painting.
