Flock Shaker

Description

Flocking is a specialized color additive made from ultra-fine polyamide fibers, designed to create realistic skin tone effects in prosthetic materials. When incorporated into clear or semi-transparent carriers, these fibers disperse to replicate the natural speckling, mottling, and subtle veining found in real skin, reducing the flat, artificial appearance often seen in pigmented silicones.

This additive is compatible with On-Skin Silicone, gelatine, and a variety of platinum silicone systems such as Dragon Skin®, Ecoflex®, and PlatSil Gel. Only a small amount is needed to achieve a natural, broken-up complexion effect, allowing the material's translucency to remain visible while adding depth, warmth, and realism.

Flocking can be used on its own for subtle skin texturing or combined with silicone pigments, inks, or paints to create a customized color palette. It is frequently used in prosthetic makeup, lifecasting, FX appliances, cosplay, animatronics skins, and hyper-realistic props. Suitable for both on-skin encapsulated prosthetics and molded silicone pieces, it blends seamlessly into the material without clumping.

Whether crafting wounds, character makeups, or ultra-realistic flesh tones, this additive provides a straightforward yet highly effective way to enhance depth and authenticity in silicone and gelatine applications.

Instructions

• Add a small amount of fibers to clear or pigmented silicone or gelatin and mix gently until evenly dispersed. 
• Use sparingly to maintain translucency while creating natural speckling and depth. 
• Combine with pigments if needed to customize tones. 
• Apply or pour the material as usual for prosthetics or effects. 
• Adjust quantity for subtle or stronger effects. 
• Ensure even distribution to avoid clumping. 
• Clean tools after use and store fibers dry.
