Description

This epoxy putty cures rapidly into a hard, lightweight plastic. It consists of two parts, A and B, mixed in equal amounts by hand. At room temperature, a 60-gram mass has a working time of 6 minutes and becomes tack-free in 30 minutes. The putty can be colored with UVO™ pigments and manipulated while in its 'green' state. Once cured, it is buoyant, easily carved, sanded, and painted. It is compatible with other similar products.

Applications

  • Quick rough shaping, filling voids, and repairs.
  • Bonds to plastics, metals, wood, and ceramics.
  • Marine repairs and can cure underwater.
  • Filleting material or for jig/fixture construction in epoxy tooling.
  • Laminated between layers of EpoxAmite™ and fiberglass for lightweight composites.

Instructions

Safety

  • Use in a well-ventilated area. A NIOSH-approved respirator is recommended for regular use.
  • Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. Use nitrile or vinyl gloves only.

Mixing and Application

  • Mix in small increments due to heat generation. Avoid mixing amounts larger than a tennis ball.
  • Store and use materials at 23°C. Conduct a small test application if unsure of suitability.

Applying a Release Agent

  • Use Sonite Wax™ for non-porous surfaces to prevent adhesion.

Mixing and Measuring

  • Dispense equal amounts of Part A and Part B. Mix by hand to a uniform color within 60 seconds.

Applying and Laminating

  • Spray a light mist of water as a primer before application.
  • Apply up to 1.27 cm thickness. Can be used with EpoxAcoat™ and EpoxAmite™ for composites.

Smoothing and Painting

  • Use isopropyl alcohol to smooth the surface.
  • Paint with acrylic enamel paints after curing.

Curing and Heat Resistance

  • Refer to cure times based on mass. Fully cured putty resists temperatures up to 63°C.

Removing Uncured Epoxy

  • Remove excess material and clean residue with soap and water. E-POX-EE KLEENER™ is optional for cleaning.
