Description

This fast-setting two-component urethane cures quickly to a black semi-rigid plastic. 

TASK™ 14 has a Working time of 10 minutes and a demold time of 45 minutes. 

With a Shore hardness of 50D, it is suitable for industrial applications such as mold making, model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, black props, and special effects. 

Fully cured castings are tough, durable, and chemical-resistant. 

Note: Do not cast into platinum-cure silicone molds.

Instructions

Storage and Preparation

Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C). These products have a limited shelf life and should be used promptly. 

All liquid urethanes are moisture sensitive. 

Use clean mixing tools and containers made of metal, glass, or plastic. Mix in a well-ventilated area. 

Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves.

Applying A Release Agent

Test surface compatibility with a trial casting. 

Molds should be dry and require a suitable release agent. Apply a liberal coat of release agent and brush lightly for thorough coverage. Let dry for 30 minutes.

Before Measuring & Mixing

Stir Part B (blue label) well before use.

Measuring

Use a 100 Parts A to 120 Parts B by weight ratio. Weigh components accurately using a scale. Dispense Part A into a mixing container, then add Part B.

Mixing

Shake or stir both parts before use. Mix thoroughly, scraping sides and bottom of the container. Avoid splashing. Mix and pour quickly as the product sets rapidly.

Note: Shelf life reduces after opening. Use remaining product quickly. Replace lids immediately after use. Use XTEND-IT™ Dry Gas Blanket to prolong shelf life.

Pouring

Pour mixture at the lowest point of the mold. Avoid pouring directly over objects. Use a uniform flow to minimize air entrapment. For best results, use a pressure casting technique at 4.2 kg/cm² during the full cure time.

Curing

Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not inhale fumes. Let castings cool to room temperature before handling. Demold time varies with mass and mold configuration. For rotational or hollow castings, backfill with rigid foam for reinforcement if exposed to temperatures above 30°C.

Performance

Cured castings are semirigid, durable, and exhibit negligible shrinkage. They resist moisture, moderate heat, solvents, and dilute acids. Remove mold release before painting or bonding.
