Description

This water-clear urethane liquid rubber compound is designed for applications requiring clarity and sunlight resistance.

Clear Flex™ 50 has low viscosity for easy mixing and pouring, curing at room temperature with minimal shrinkage.

Cured castings are clear, flexible, and UV-resistant.

Add pigments for vibrant colors and effects.

Suitable for clear-cut molds, model reproductions, decorative pieces, special effects, and prototype parts.

Instructions

Safety

Store and use at room temperature (23°C). Use products promptly as they have a limited shelf life.

Maintain low environmental humidity and ensure good ventilation.

Wear safety glasses, long sleeves, and rubber gloves. A NIOSH approved respirator is recommended to minimize inhalation of fumes.

This product is for industrial use only. If respiratory or dermal issues occur, stop use and seek medical attention.

Read the SDS before use.

Preparation

Seal porous materials (gypsum, concrete, wood, stone) before applying a release agent. Use SuperSeal™ or One Step™ for sealing. Allow sealers to dry thoroughly.

Applying A Release Agent

Apply a release agent like Universal™ Mold Release liberally to surfaces contacting the rubber. Brush lightly for thorough coverage, then mist and let dry for 30 minutes.

Selecting A Mold Rubber

Use a urethane rubber mold (Vytaflex™) or silicone mold (Mold Max™ or Mold Star™). Avoid Mold Max™ 10T, 15T, or 20T. Post-cure new silicone molds at 60°C for 8 hours to prevent cure inhibition.

For Best Results Before Pouring

Pre-heat rubber mold at 100°C for 4 hours to reduce defects. Store and use materials in a warm environment (23°C). Replace lids immediately after use to prolong shelf life. Use XTEND-IT™ Dry Gas Blanket to extend shelf life.

Mixing

Pre-mix Part B to re-disperse pigments. Weigh and mix parts A and B for 3 minutes, scraping sides and bottom.

For large quantities, use a mechanical mixer followed by hand mixing.

Add pigments to Part B before mixing with Part A. Large casts generate heat and shrink proportionally.

Vacuuming Material

If vacuum degassing, ensure the vacuum pump pulls at least 29 inches of mercury. Leave room for expansion. Vacuum until material rises, breaks, and falls, then continue for 1 minute.

Pouring

Pour mixture at the lowest point of the mold. Avoid pouring directly over objects. Use pressure casting at 4.2 kg/cm² for best results.

Post Curing

Post cure for faster curing and maximum properties. Cure for 6–8 hours at room temperature, then 16 hours at 65°–72°C. Allow to cool before demolding. Room temperature curing for 24–48 hours is usually sufficient. Expose tacky surfaces to 65°C for 4–6 hours. Heat post cure if casting is less than 0.64 cm thick.
