Description

This fiber-reinforced, non-sag life-casting alginate is designed for vertical surfaces, providing better control for molds of the face, torso, and other body parts. It reproduces detailed surfaces and is suitable for single-use molds to create reproductions in wax, plaster, platinum-cure silicone, or ultra-fast urethane resin.

Features

  • Easy to use with a mix ratio of 1:1 by volume.
  • Working time is 5 minutes at 27°C
  • Cure time is 8 minutes at 27°C
  • Skin-safe
  • Respiratory-safe, free from crystalline silica.
  • Not recommended for dental applications.

Technical Properties

  • Mix Ratio By Volume: 1 Part warm water (27°C) to 1 Part Acrobat powder
  • Mix Ratio By Weight: 3 parts water to 1 part powder
  • Pot Life: 5 minutes
  • Cure Time: 8 minutes
  • Specific Volume: 0.94 lt/kg
  • Color: Off White
  • Mixed Viscosity: Variable

Use Cases

Ideal for temporary molds of body parts like the face and torso. Suitable for casting materials such as plaster, wax, clay, and fast urethane resins. For soft, skin-like castings, use soft silicone rubber.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Store and use in a dry environment at room temperature.
  • Store in a cool area (15°C - 31°C) for 24 hours before use if the powder gets warm during storage/shipping.
  • Use as soon as possible due to limited shelf life.
  • Avoid moisture contact with unused powder.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during use.

Practice

  • Practice by making a mold of a small object before attempting larger models.

Applying A Release Agent

  • Does not stick to most surfaces.
  • Use a release preparation to prevent mechanical lock to hair when molding the head.
  • Apply cholesterol-based hair conditioner to hair-covered areas before application.

Measuring

  • Mix 1 part water to 1 part powder by volume.
  • Pack the powder firmly into the measuring cup.
  • Adjust water level to change mixture consistency.

Water Quality

  • High mineral content water may cause lumpiness or improper setting.
  • Use distilled water if water quality is questionable.

Temperature Of The Water

  • At 27°C (80°F), working time is 8 minutes, and demold time is 10 minutes.
  • Warmer water cures faster; colder water extends working time.

Mixing

  • Can be hand mixed, but best results with a power drill and mixer attachment.
  • Mix for one minute to achieve a gel-like consistency.

Application

  • Wet the model’s skin before applying.
  • Apply a thin coating by brushing, smoothing by hand, or using a plastic spatula.
  • Keep the model still until the material sets.
  • Experiment with water amount for desired consistency.

Applying A Support Shell

  • Once cured, a support shell is necessary.
  • Gypsona brand medical grade plaster bandages are recommended.

Casting Into The Mold

  • Cast into the mold within 4 hours following demold.
  • Materials include plaster, wax, clay, and fast urethane resins.
  • For soft castings, use soft silicone rubber.
